To Follow or Not to Follow

Apparently my DoFollow plug in has been having some issues lately and stripping people’s comments of EVERYTHING. My apologies if you were caught in the mess and had your comment show up blank (I got your whole comment both in my email and in the control panel but they were not showing up on site). I’m hoping now that things are fixed. Please let me know if they are not.

Performance

I don’t think I’ve been up to par lately. I think I’m in the wrong frame of mind. Hopefully that will improve as things get sorted out in my personal life, so they stop affecting my professional one. I’m not sure that business performance management software could help me with this.

Maybe I just need to stop doubting myself. People actually call me for tarot readings and I’m a bit…shocked, to say the least, and that’s not very professional. Of course, it’s weird to me that they would be calling now, after my business has become unlisted. I stopped getting telemarketers so it’s odd to me that I would now get clients.

Unfortunately right now we’re not in very good shape to take people in, given the house is full of boxes and the driveway and front yard are full of building supplies! It figures, huh?

Sleep is Good

I’ve said that many times on many posts on several blogs, but last night I actually got a decent amount of sleep, but then hard work will do that. We’ve been putting together a shed, it’s nowhere near finished right now, but there was a lot of lumber lifting, drilling, fetching and carrying and just good old-fashioned hard work around our house last night, and that makes for a good night’s rest after wards.

Still some times at night I find myself catching snippets of conversations here and there, I’m kinda glad neither my husband or I has any talking watches otherwise I’d be completely confused. I’ve gotten out of the habit of listening some times to those little pointers that try to come through from points beyond.

Then again it’s hard to find the balance between listening to the messages and not staying up all night so that you can still get rest. A lot of times things come through to me in dreams, and dream state can make things slightly more difficult to interpret. I mean, you might be seeing something which looks pretty straightforward like a warning about not running across a certain street because there’s the chance of a manic driver plowing you over, and then all of a sudden there’s a giant talking camel with a bookmark for a hat, and you’re going…um…what?

Being Natural

My husband came home yesterday with the tale of his co-worker who was making his own tooth paste, so that he didn’t have to use something with a lot of chemicals in it. I hadn’t thought of doing something like that, but I can see where when we’re short, it might be something that we can do. We have baking soda and peroxide after all.

We are looking into buying coffee beans instead of coffee grounds. Hubbie’s same co-worker had recently forgone espresso machines in favor of a french press and had been so happy with it that he convinced us to get one as well. It actually gives a lot more flavorful coffee that the filter machine that we had before. The coffee is less burned and it actually is ready a lot faster.

Of course now I’m wondering what we’re going to do with all the leftover filters. Perhaps we have some friends or family members who will use them or I can’t see just throwing them out, such a waste!

Vanity and Pictures

I keep thinking I should post a more up to date picture of myself on here, but I find myself being struck by a case of the vanities. Why? Because I look at the pictures and I think about how overweight I am, about how much acne I have on my face, about the way my hair looks about what clothes I’m wearing.

I think it’s a justifiable vanity though. A first impression is an important one for a potential client, and so you should look your best. So what if I do a lot of my work from home? It’s still important to make a good impression on people who are going to be using your services, you want to appear friendly and open, knowledgeable and concerned, as well as well-groomed, and professional. With my sort of profession there’s a certain apart of hippie that I believe is expected with the territory, so I think I can get away with my rainbow hair, as long as I look decent.

Different Strokes for Different Folks

It’s always interesting to me to see the different ways that people read tarot for each other and I had that opportunity over the past week. We had some friends over and two of them also read, and so we were doing some reading exchanges.

For me I find a signifier for myself and the person who I’m reading for based on their star sign or just how they are, if I know them well enough, and then I have them focus their concerns on to that card while I cleanse the deck of previous energy (just in case) and then they shuffle. I put their signifier and mine on either side of the deck and visualize their energy being pulled through to my card, then I spread the cards out and feel which ones are the warmest energetically and pull those.

My friend who read for me next, she just had me shuffle and then drew the cards from the top of the deck as we went around.

My other friend, he had me shuffle but asked me to shuffle as much as I could which wound up meaning I did a bit of a tarot version of 52-pick up by spreading the cards all over the table and shuffling them around seeing as I can’t do the sort of shuffle where you split the deck in half and flick them back together. After the shuffle I had to cut the cards three times with my left hand and give them back to him. He said if the first card comes up inverted he always flips the deck around.

We have another friend who I haven’t seen for a while who shuffles her deck until a card falls out, each time a card falls out that’s the one she uses for the reading. If two cards fall out she puts them back in unless two cards fall out again.

Every one of us reads accurately, it’s just each person has different ways that they tune to their deck, each of us has slightly different interpretations for the same card, but we all get results.

What I’m Up To?

I’m on a mini hiatus right now because we’re doing some home renovations which are taking up quite a bit of my time. I’ll be back with a special in a few weeks, but right now I’m knee deep in picking out carpet, light fixtures, paint and ordering wood, and other building supplies.

It’s going to be worth it, but right now things are extremely hectic, so I have only minimal focus on the business aspects of things. As I’ve said before things come in fits and spurts anyway, with this sort of business, and if you do email me or order something it’s not as if I’m going to ignore you, far from it, but my blogging and things like that here are going to be a bit sparse for a while.

Email Disappointment

Every once in a while I go through a bit of email disappointment. I get to a point where it’s been a while since I’ve had any reading requests so I start getting really overly hopeful any time I get a message in my inbox, only to find out it’s a fake lotto winner email, or a viagra offer, or Fenterdren reviews, all telling me how great this thing is that I don’t really want or need.

I should know by now that this business comes in fits and spurts, and the spurts are usually right when I need it most, but I can’t help but wish some times that things were a bit more consistent.
