One of the issues that I can see with psychics is the fact that what you see is extremely open to interpretation. I know movies and films and television shows make it look as though you’re transported right into the vision and see everything as clear as I see my computer screen right now, but it’s more like being short-sighted or long-sighted and looking around without glasses.

Every once in a while I’m graced with a dream that is fairly clear but even with that it’s not so straight forward. I once dreamed that I was at my college graduation. My grandparents were there and as I walked down from the stage my grandfather walked up to me waved, shook his head sadly and disappeared while my parents and my grandmother looked on.

Two weeks later my grandfather died. So, he was not at my graduation. My grandmother though still alive also didn’t attend my graduation, so that part of the dream could be viewed as incorrect, but given my grandfather didn’t fade out of existence I must view the dream as symbolic. He was leaving the family and the rest of us would remain.

Another time a friend had lost a ring and asked me to see if I could tune into where it was. I told her I felt that it was at the edge of her carpet in her bedroom. She snorted at me because she didn’t have any carpet in her room so I was therefore wrong. Two days later she found the ring wrapped up in the fringe on the edge of her rug, what I’d seen as carpet was a rug, so I was somewhat right, but not really, because I had never seen her room so didn’t know.

In short, like anything else you have to hone your skills. You have to learn to understand the imagery that your brain uses, and how it applies, and you have to get used to the fact that things are going to be hazy, and sometimes just downright weird.

Before I found out I was pregnant I had a dream that my husband was talking to a little girl in his parent’s kitchen. He was joking around with her because she was opening and closing the fridge door constantly and shouldn’t be doing that. He told her, “If I can lift your mother, I can sure as Hell lift you and stop you from doing that,” and then she giggled and he ran off chasing her. When I found out I was pregnant several friends guessed that I would be having a girl because of that dream, but our son was born in April 2006. Who the random girl was in my dream I have no idea. My husband and I have no plans to have any more children. Perhaps it was just a dream. We may never know.

My friend Heather at Work In Progress had taken this quiz this morning and inspired me to take it myself.

You scored highest in Channeling.

One who communicates with spirits is called a channeler or medium. Channelling is the ability to communicate with those who once lived or with spirit who have never taken a human form such as angelic beings. Channeling is the communication that takes place between a spirit and a living human. There are several forms of spirit communication and a channeler does not have to be in a trance state to receive messages. However, with regard to the quality of channelled information it is reliant on the channeler rather than the spirit. This is because the information has to be passed in an energy form for interpretation from the channeler. If the channeler has not learnt the skill adequately the information can seem vague and jumbled.

Channeling can be a learned skill. As you learn though, it is important to remember that everyone has a different experience of what it is like to channel. Your style will depend on your spirit guide and your particular energy level, focus, and clarity. Before consciously channelling it is a good idea to learn the skills of quietening the mind. This is to ensure the quality of information you receive. Many people however, experience ‘unconscious’ channelling a random act of communication with a loved one who has passed over. This means a person has the ability to successfully channel but has not yet developed it.

Your next highest score was for Precognition.

While clairvoyance and telepathy have to do with perceiving events across distance precognition focuses on the ability to ’see’ events across time. Specifically future events. Precognition is often for a lot of people totally unexpected and not asked for. It is the ability to see the future. It is usually experienced in a variety of ways among the most common are through feelings, brief inner glimpses, dreams and the third eye (the minds eye). For some, especially if not understood, this ability can be disconcerting until the gift is properly managed. This can be done through reading, experiencing and understanding psychic ability.

I think I’m going to be browsing around the site a little bit once I finish editing my second article for Tarot World Magazine. It’s been a bit of a slow start yesterday and today because the munchkin is sick with the croup, but he should hopefully be over it by the weekend.

I wish sometimes that I would know, because you guarantee when we do need something I won’t remember the store is there, or that it carries those things. You win some, you lose some.

This is my next to last post before we disconnect everything. But on the upside when we get everything turned back on I’m going to be going through with that redesign that I have planned, and setting things up more smoothly ^^

It’d be easy enough to get out there, find hotels Las Vegas and it can’t be that hard to find a place to gamble out there, actually winning, that’s hard. Psychic or not. Aside from the fact that I point out to him I’ve never been able to win more than $25 at the lottery. This is not the sort of gift that should be abused that way.

We can come up with enough to get by, really that’s all we need.

I wrote a post a while back about finding things, you may also remember it because of the mention of Patek Philippe watches, but then again, you might not.

I wish it would work for my own things. I seem to have lost that touch lately. I was all over the house this morning trying to find my sewing kit so I could fix a shirt of my husbands, which wouldn’t be so bad except I’ve been looking for that sewing kit since last Tuesday! I did finally find it, but I felt so silly, especially because my husband’s there shaking his head going, “Maybe you should look for my car keys instead?”

At least it was found. I just wish it hadn’t taken three days. I mean, seriously, I can find his keys in two seconds, his watch, his sunglasses, his shoes, the munchkin’s toothbrush, but anything of mine lately is a mystery. Unless it’s something small that the munchkin could possibly eat/choke on then he finds it no problem.

Generally on this site things are less concerned with how you’re going to be buried or your burial policy and more with your after life, but reading that link got me thinking about what happens when I die.

My parents paid for me to be cremated through the “Cremation Society”, so that plan for me is already over and done with. I’m not sure what will go on with my husband, although given his profession it’s likely that the city he works for will take care of his expenses.

It’s interesting to see the different ways that people plan for those situations. A recent death in our family, the plans were only made a few months before it happened, but the place that conducted the service was very thoughtful, they even called to check on the surviving spouse a few weeks after, and during all the planning as well to make sure that everything was alright. I thought that was going above and beyond.

Death touches every aspect of our life in one way or another, and sometimes I find myself wondering how it is that people don’t notice when the dead touch their lives even months or years after, and yet others can’t move passed something which happened years ago. I’m not saying that you shouldn’t honor the dead. I believe the absolute contrary, every Samhain I set a place at the table and often serve a portion of our food in honor of those we loved who have carried on to the next stage, but I believe also that it would be doing them a disservice if we stopped our own lives as well. I know of no relative of mine who would see that as a fitting tribute, and I can imagine I would get hit over the head metaphysically if it happened.

There are times I wonder how I would carry on without my husband, but then again, he reminds me constantly that he intends to live forever because by the time dying is a possibility “…they’ll have lasers to fix it.”

I had an interesting experience today. I decided after I got home that I was going to just order Chinese food for us to have for supper instead of making something, especially after my son threw a glass on the floor and broke it and I had to spend several minutes with him screaming at me from his play pen while I cleaned up varying sizes of glass portions.

Anyway, I called the Chinese place and gave them my address, and she said, “It’s on the way!”

I’m going, “Um…but I haven’t ordered yet?”

“He just left. It on way. Very soon. We right next door, yes?”

“Well, yes, but I haven’t ordered food yet…I haven’t actually placed my order.”

It turned out that some one in the building across the way had ordered food, and so I ordered mine and it arrived quicker than she said. It took me back to a time in high school when we were asked to make a commercial for my T.V. class and I wrote one called “Psychic Pizza” where the idea was that you would think about wanting to eat pizza and then the phone would ring and the psychic cook would tell you that your pizza would be to you shortly and then they would show up at the door with your pizza. The catchphrase was that, “If it’s not there within ten minutes of you thinking about it, then it’s free!”

I wonder if that would ever be able to happen to anything: incontinence supplies, books?

I’m still a little out on this one, for me it only seems to work with my husband and so I wonder if it’s more knowing him and where he puts things than it is a psychic connection. There are so many times that he’ll come to me, “Where are my keys?” “Where’s my watch?” “Where’s [fill in the blank]?” It’s not as though he has a Patek Philippe watch but still these things are important and valuable and needed and I can 9 times out of 10 go right to it and find it, and find what he’s going to ask for next before he does.

The only time I’ve tried for that with someone else was in high school. A friend and I were using a home made Ouija board, and that’s not something I’d advocate to anyone given things I’ve found out since to do with stupidity, not anything that happened directly related to finding things. We were asking the board questions, and another friend said, “Oh, well, ask them were my ring is, I lost it.” The answer came back “carpet edge.” She decided the board was bogus because she didn’t have carpet in her room, but came back the next day to report that the ring was in the fringe of the rug in her room.

People will ask at times how I “see” things how my input comes in, so I thought I would talk a little about that.

It’s not really specific at all, my impressions, that’s why I use the tarot cards, they can be a good trigger point for me and a good way to hone things in, by asking and seeing which symbols and cards come up to answer.

I have had a few clear impressions in my life, but in some ways they are still interpretable. Before 9/11 I kept having feelings of being crushed and buried and sometimes dreams of being under a mountain of skulls. I’m not sure if that’s entirely 9/11 related. I know that a lot of people within esoteric communities had nightmares before 9/11 but none of us had any grasp of what it meant at all. Every once in a while I will get this “Something! Something bad!!!” urgent feeling that later turns out to be someone I know has lost someone close to them, that happened also the day before Columbia blew up.

One of the clearest dreams I remember happened two weeks before my grandfather in England died. I was dreaming of my college graduation which was to happen the following December. My grandfather and my grandmother were there. A big event they were planning as it involved coming from England to the United States, but when I went up to talk to him after I graduated he shook his head sadly and turned and waved and disappeared. I woke up crying and told my now ex that I just killed my grandfather he had a heart attack.
Two weeks later we were out at a used book store and saw a collection of the works of Charles Dickens and when I tried to explain to my ex that my grandfather owned that collection my mouth stuck on the verb and kept trying to put it in the past tense. A half hour later we were at home and there was a message on the machine from my mother to call because she had some news. When I spoke to her she told me that my grandfather had died that morning while doing the dishes. They figured it was an issue with his heart.

A few years later my grandmother had a stroke but survived. She went into assisted living and my mother knowing about the dream I had to do with her father asked what my impressions were about my grandmother. I told her I wasn’t getting anything really at all, but if I pushed I kept hearing October. That October came around and my grandmother was still with us. She didn’t die until last year. In October. My mother goes, “Well, you were pushing it and you did just say ‘October’ not which one.”

There have been several times when I do get some images while talking to people about readings. I’ve done readings before and just had a random impression and I’m teaching myself to listen to those and relay them to the person I’m reading for. Someone was looking for a new apartment and it was insistent to me that they check the floors. She said that when they did look at the floors of the two places they were looking at one they were very dirty and cracked and old, and the other they were patterned and green, her favorite color.

Another time I had done a reading for someone about a prospect coming to them romantically. The card I drew was the inverted King of Cups. I said, I think this means they’re either blonde and not a teacher, or are a teacher and not blonde, and then I got an impression of a man with short brown hair and glasses working away at a computer. He stopped and pinched his nose, after taking the glasses off and massaged his forehead before going back to work. They are now married to this man who when they met was a teacher, and not blonde, wears glasses. It comes to me now too that they did first meet online, and he now works with computers more than teaching.

Listening to the little messages is just as important as dealing with the cards themselves.

It frustrates me a bit when there are things which happen and I don’t see them, or I do see them but I figure it’s okay and that I’ll be on alert and they happen anyway.
What I’m talking about is my son’s accident. Earlier that day it had come to me how I had been burned as a small child, by hot tea. I had stood in a teapot which had been put somewhere that was supposed to be “out of the way” but in that knack I always had when I was young for attracting disaster I managed to stand in it anyway and burn my foot.
I mentioned this to a family member, and they agreed hot tea is not fun and that putting tea pots on the floor is a bad thing to do around a small child.
So, they didn’t put the hot tea on the ground anywhere around our child, they put it on a high surface that he should not have been able to reach. We watch our child vigilantly, and yet still because we felt that he was safe as the tea was on a high surface he should not have been able to reach he managed to climb himself up enough to get it and burn himself.

He is doing very well right now considering the trauma we all went through. He is healing up very quickly and we’re hoping that by the end of this week we will be able to take off the bandages and proceed with the next phase of his treatment.

I feel as though I didn’t pay enough attention to my little inkling. I dislike the second guessing. I know that accidents happen. The important thing is that he is alright; but I feel guilty all the same.
