Dreams

Published by Catriona under dreams, writing

I woke this morning from a blissful dream where the laptop miraculously started working again, and I was getting all the weight loss nutrition I needed, to the harsh reality that I’m still not sorting out my weight properly and the computer is being even weirder than it was yesterday.

I have to face facts on both counts, that I need to motivate myself. I thought I was doing okay, but the stress of the past few days and the laptop not working correctly, has me so freaked out that I’m not going to be able to keep up with my income, my writing, or my work that I’ve been not paying attention to what I’m doing with regards food. I’ve had days where I don’t eat until 1 p.m. and then, of course, I eat too much.

There was however some other useful things in my dream that pertain to the story I’m currently trying to work on. I’m a bit hesitant to try and type them up, but I think in part of my backing things up before the computer goes in for service. I will print out what I have of the story so far, and start handwriting on it.

Slow Writing Day

Published by Catriona under dreams

It’s been a slow writing day because I need mechanical breakdown insurance. I went to drive the car and she was dead, again, because if I don’t drive her for a couple of days the battery decides it doesn’t have to work any more. So, we jumped her and I took her to the shop because her doing that reminded me I’ve been meaning to take her for an oil change for a couple of weeks now.

I found out that as well as needing a new radiator she’s also going to be needing a new intake manifold soon. Joy! I’m going to the mechanic, “I was only joking about signing her death warrant,” but then not really. She doesn’t owe us anything my poor car. Hubbie and I have spoken before about the fact that we’re essentially running her into the ground. We’ve also talked, especially since I’ve had to quit work again for health reasons about dropping to a one-car family.

We may have to at this point, because I’ve done 2 grand worth of repairs to her since I got her in 2002. To do that much in the space of a few months when we’re barely surviving financially…I can’t bank on finishing a book and getting it published and making it that well, though it’s nice to dream.

Dream Interpretation

Published by Catriona under dreams

I often have dreams which I consider to be memories of other lives, however some times dreams are just jumbles of random events, and other times I can see symbology in them. During a mess of things in a dream a few nights ago I saw two married acquaintances wrestling with a horse, and I was explaining to Kore how in the dream the horse escaped from them, she said, “Maybe the horse represents their marriage,” which is in a bit of turmoil. Then again it could just have been a strange dream like the one where I found a camel in the kitchen that my friend’s boss was riding.

I try to keep records of my dreams, but some times they “get away” from me when I wake up, no matter how clear they were when I was having them. If you practise remembering your dreams by trying to journal them every day it does help; but with having a small child in the house I don’t have as much time to journal dreams because often I have to get up right away and tend to him. Ah, well.

Does anyone else have any dreams they’d like to share?

Dream Interpretation

Published by Catriona under dreams

I’ve never really understood some of the meanings that people find in dreams. I know if you dream about certain symbols they’re supposed to mean certain things, like if you dream about getting a package in a dream it’s supposed to mean that you have hidden creative energy that needs to be expressed.

For me more often than not my dreams don’t seem to be symbolic but memories of things, or the symbolism is something which means something only to me. For the longest time I dreamed about interacting with characters from Joss Whedon’s Buffyverse, and the characters were representing their archetypes, if Willow was involved she meant I was interacting with someone who was a geek, for example.

Perhaps dream interpretation is open to interpretation?
