Psychic or not I feel like we’ve made a good investment having term life insurance. It can really help you out with those unforeseen circumstances. I like to think that we’d be prepared for anything which might happen, but there are always going to be things which pop up that even I can’t predict.
When we brought our property recently our broker suggested we get mortgage insurance in case my husband who is the primary breadwinner is ever injured and therefore out of work and isn’t getting a paycheck. We’re still debating on it. My husband feels that it’s an unnecessary precaution, but I like to think that we’d be protected if something did happen. We keep going back and forth and round and round. Even so I would advise anyone else to take the precaution too.

The craziness with the phone has begun. We were supposed to get the phone turned on Christmas Eve at 10 a.m. I’m not sure when it actually got turned on that day. At 11 a.m. I was on the phone with the phone company arguing with them about the fact they were telling me they couldn’t tell me WHEN someone as going to show up to actually turn the phone on.
In the end we established that I didn’t actually have to be here while they did it so I was safe to go over to our relatives house for our family celebration and wasn’t going to be chained to the house all day.
We got back at 1 a.m. and found a note tacked on the door knob telling us the phone was connected. We spent all the next day out at relatives as well. Today at 9:15 a.m. I started getting phone calls. All telemarketers. 2/3 of them were for a couple called “Karen and Brian” who apparently used to have our phone number. The others were either offering credit card machines or imprinted promotional products of one kind or another. I know people have to work…just some times I would sincerely like to be able to do what I’m wanting to do and not constantly be interrupted for phone calls that I get excited about and wind up being crushingly disappointed because this person seems to think the fact that I use PayPal is not good enough and I should be super hyped because they want to offer me some horrible machine that will steal half of my credit card transaction in fees and rental anyway.

There are quite a few times lately that I miss having a notebook computer. I think part of it is just the convenience factor. I used to be able to sit on the couch with my computer in my lap and work with people, or if the guys were all playing video games at our friends house I could open the computer and work wirelessly while they were playing, doing site design, rearranging things, talking to people, researching articles, doing readings.
Now that we have a desktop while it was a good decision financially sometimes I feel like we made the wrong one and should have gone a little bit higher and bought another notebook because it would have been portable and I could have worked while we were out still.
Then again we carry enough things around with us when we go out when we bring my son with us, because of all the diapers, wipes and food that we bring, so…perhaps it was right after all and I’m just jealous because all our friends are getting laptops when they get computers.

We have some prospects for a place to move. I want to be sure that first thing tomorrow morning I call the city department for the places that we’re looking at and find out what their policies are on businesses operating out of a residence.
One of them I already know because it’s within this self-same city that we’re in now, but the other, not so sure. I’m hoping it’s a clear, but you have to work with what you get. The most important thing for us right now is that we have a place to live. If that place helps my husband’s job then that’s all the better. Things with me can follow on once we’ve sorted out our mortgage a bit and can afford another loan, if they have to.

Some of you may have seen my notes and posts yesterday or the state of the site at various stages where it wasn’t actually around just mirroring ami-chan.net or where it was around but there were no posts, content, pages, comments or blogrolls and so on.
Well, thanks once again to the genius and back-ups that drak.net have the site lives, and the content is there, and I now know how to properly make back-ups and properly import things backwards and forwards in MySQL and phpMyAdmin. So, hopefully this will not happen again.
Part of the issue was not my fault, but the fault of a corrupted file and a confusion within cPanel about whether this site really had a redirect and a subdomain, but the hosing of the WP due to lack of back-up file that was me, because I neglected to check the back-up file to see if it really was there properly, which it wasn’t, and deleted and then found out that the back-up file wasn’t correctly saved. The fact that the feeds I have sent to me don’t exist any more, that I’m not sure about. But content fixed, problem fixed, site active. Woohoo!
This is why I stick with drak.net as my host.
