Closed until Monday

I was just going to say that I’m closed tomorrow, but then I realized that with my son’s birthday being on Saturday it’s probably best just to close until Monday and make a long weekend out of it.

I’ll probably post a couple of blog entries here and there, but not do any work. Feel free to order readings in the mean time but know that they will take longer to get to you, and while I may respond to answer questions I won’t have the time to do the readings until after the birthday.

Tomorrow I have my swearing-in ceremony so I won’t be at “the office” at all. I’ll be getting my citizenship and registering to vote, and then it’s the mega-clean up, cook prep, deciding if we need wine racks, finishing fences, mixing cement, doing the last of the work on the fire pit and gathering wood and all of that, and then the clean-up as well.

Back and Catching Up

It’s going to be a bit rough for the next day or so because I’m playing catch-up on things and also the munchkin broke part of my laptop keyboard which means I have to cannibalize the two computer systems together in order to get things done right now.
I have been able to set up a network but right now I’m wishing that they made HDMI switches for the computers…I think they do but I don’t know if they work for hooking up a laptop and a desktop computer, just for switching between two desktop hard drives.

A friend suggested I get an external drive…but now that I’m having to buy a replacement laptop keyboard that will have to wait until next time I get some cash in.

Ah, well…you live and learn, and you try to avoid the child destroying anything else of value.

Sick Sabbatical

I’ve been sick for the past couple of days and it doesn’t seem to be letting up. It’s some kind of stomach thing…so I won’t be able to do readings for people for the next couple of days until I’m back up to par.

It’s the day that the clocks spring forward? I didn’t. I got up this morning and I was completely confused as to what was going on with the television. Our T.V. is pretty much permanently on PBS for the educational programming and because of that I have the schedule memorized, and most of the theme tunes as well, and the schedule was completely off.

Then I remembered what was going. I feel like such a dufus.

So, yes, the clocks have gone forward one hour. I think part of my confusion is the fact that it is earlier than it has been in the previous years, normally it’s after our wedding anniversary.

So much to do and so little time! I feel like the white rabbit.

I know I have several clients who I’m just waiting on the invoice payment before I can send out their readings. I just wanted to warn those people that I’m going to be away from the computer for most, if not all, of the morning getting something car-related sorted out. But your readings are ready to go so once I get back, if you’ve been able to access your email and sort your end out this morning I’ll be sending everything out to you.

Free Readings?

In my workings “behind the scenes” I’m re-doing my price lists and the different sorts of readings that I’m offering, as I’m doing this I’m looking at the prices and the elusive “three-card reading” and wondering, should I just jump for it and make this a free sample reading?

What do people think? So often I do get people asking about free readings, and I always feel bad when I say “no I don’t offer those” but then I think if I did and had a limit on it such as that it would be easier perhaps to meet people halfway then.

Would people be interested? Do you think others would be interested? I know there wasn’t much interest when I did the “free on the fours” contest for a free reading, but I’ve had lots of people ask about free readings or free samples, and when I did my week of free readings for the people on the PunkyMoms I got a lot of interest and at least some of them have come back and become clients and some even regular clients, and most of them will recommend me to their fellow punkymoms. Well, that’s an easier decision than whether or not I should buy a Chanel J12 watch…right?

Given I think I just answered my own question, don’t you? Still give me your input. Other opinions than my own are always much appreciated.

Slow Time

I’m a little backlogged, because I’ve been sick over the past few days. I was given some new medication for an ongoing condition last week and it and my system haven’t agreed very well.
I’m just finally getting back to kilter and trying to catch up with people.

Weekend Update

This weekend I’m going on a mini-hiatus from readings; so if you’re interested in a reading I will not be able to get to it until Monday the 14th. I regret this but we’re carpeting this weekend and have people coming to test our well water and possibly install a filtration system or a softener so there’s not going to be much in the way of time to sit down and work with the cards.

Once the carpet is down and we can get the last of the boxes unpacked and things put upstairs in the “to be carpeted” room I should be able to start doing live readings again and appointments over IM. So this will be a good thing. Not only will I be able to start doing readings again but take appointments so you can potentially get a reading from me right away rather than waiting at least a day, if not two for me to get back to you with your emailed predictions

I’m debating offering video readings. I have a web-camera again and could therefore with that or with my digital camera video tape myself explaining someone’s predictions and send it to them, but I’m not sure if that would be a service that people would be interested in. There are so many undesirables out there who harass me about the web-camera that it’s taken me a year and a half to consider doing something like that again. I have debates with doing a few “informational videos” explaining how the tarot reading process works, and have started filming some footage for that, but again, it’s something I’m uncertain about. Self-filming is not the best in quality, and I’m nervous about the situation as well, because one thing that’s always irked me are the 1-900-commercials and I start to feel a bit like that.
