Stress and De-Stress

It can be hard some times to remember to chill out. I figure I better allow myself some stress free time but it’s very hard to force myself to make that time, even though things suffer–particularly my ability to write creatively when I’m stressed.

Part of it is that when I’m stressed I get into a rut, also called a vicious cycle. I’m tired, my brain is foggy, so ideas are either difficult or become contrived. Then because my ideas are horrible I berate myself. Then I become more bummed or more stressed and so on and so forth.

It’s actually easier than you think to chill out, you just have to remind yourself to do it. I can find a nice calming place just going into the back yard and sitting by myself in the grass for a while. It’s not always easy to be completely serene because there’s a little munchkin who will start going “Mummy-Mummy-Mummy” some times. I can also find serenity while painting the front of the house, just turn on some music and lose myself in the rhythm for a half hour or so. Works out to my advantage if I’m careful about it.

Kore and I also discovered that our new local community park has some nice trails and jogging paths which may be a good way to not only regroup our collective mentality but also to help keep up with the exercise portion of our lifestyle change and trim down some of those extra pounds.

Balancing Yourself

Published by Catriona under about me

If people have been on my personal blog recently they’ve probably read that our household has been changing their dietary habits. This has meant a complete re-shape of the entire kitchen, and so far as sparked around 12lbs of weight loss in both myself and Kore.

We’ve elected to go this route rather than weight loss pills because it’s more practical. However my physician has spoken of bringing pills into the equation if I get to a plateau for a while just to help jump my metabolism a bit more. I’m slightly apprehensive, but I trust this new doctor that I have so far he’s been very on the ball despite me only being with him a short amount of time, and I love the fact that he explains everything to me even down to every single line of the blood work he ran. So if he feels that it is going to be beneficial for me to take pills for this I’m more inclined to do so, especially as he researches everything and has a tendency to go for natural herbal supplement routes rather than chemical ones.

Buying and Selling

Published by Catriona under business, technical

I’m always on the look out for a good deal on items that we need, whether it be packs of cheese or RAM for the computer I try to find the best product for the best price. In the past few weeks I’ve been looking at sale after sale, because our income is getting smaller and smaller whereas we still need to buy things, and in some cases we’re getting to the point where we have to replace things otherwise we’ll be out completely.

With all the computer problems we’ve been having recently I’ve been looking into purchasing a back up hard drive. Our computer itself only has a 160 GB hard drive, so a 1 TB back-up drive is more than enough, but when it’s at a good price it’s worth the extra space to save the money–where would be the point in buying a smaller hard drive for the same amount or just slightly less? I don’t see there being one. I had the same thought when I bought the RAM upgrade. There were 4 GB of RAM for under $50 so it made sense to do that rather than just buy a single stick for the same price.

Also with the 1 TB back up drive we can back up this computer, Kore’s computer and when we’re able to get the additional computer we need we can back up that one as well and have plenty of space.

Moving and Re-name

Published by Catriona under business

Once we get the computer up and running again there are going to be some changes. With Kore and I sorting things out to go into official partnership, and the fact that the company name was one that I mostly fell into we’ve decided to rename the company something that is less likely to be mistaken for a hardware store, and also better illustrates what we’re doing.

There are several things we’re working on as best we can without access to graphic design programs, and low finances, but both of us feel that this is the best way to move forward, and I, for one, feel very comfortable with this turn of events.
