Tarot for yourself
I hear a lot of conflicting opinions about doing readings for yourself from readers and others. There are a lot of people who say that they won’t read for themselves and I tend to fall along that line as well. I find it’s far too easy to look for what you want to see than read what the cards are actually telling you and I’ve seen a lot of people do themselves a disservice.
I look on it a bit the same as how I look at my writing. I can’t edit my own work when I write it because I’m too close to the piece and I read what I know I put in there and don’t see the huge glaring holes, run on sentences or passive voice, and if I can’t do that why would I read my own cards?
To that end I usually do trades with other readers if I’m curious about something which is going on. When we were having a huge problem sorting out mortgage lenders and where we were going to live I did several trades with friends and fellow readers who were interested in readings.
I’m not going to badmouth the concept of reading for yourself, because by that same end I do readings for my close family members and often things that are for me come up and also if you’re aware enough to be able to detach from your situation and read objectively more power to you. It’s all about knowing your limits.
